I’m writing this at the end of our worship time (2nd service). Great worship time at both services. The body sang from their hearts! We began each service with the song “Center” (Charlie Hall), followed by a reading of Hebrews 12:2 (“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus,..“). A great song and scripture to help us center our attention, and focus our hearts.

It was just a matter of time that we worked in a “Beatles” song during this “Friendship” teaching series. But what could be more fitting than the song “With a Little Help from My Friends”. Rich Trowbridge, Andrew Hauser and I had a great time singing it.
A friend of mine gave me the Tom Petty documentary “Running Down A Dream” to watch a while back. I’ve always liked Tom and had a few of his albums (“Torpedoes”, “Hard Promises” and “The Last DJ“) But after watching the movie and reading the book (of the same name), I’ve experience him and the band at a new level.

This song wasn’t working well during rehearsals. Sometimes songs don’t flow the way you want them to (by no fault of the musicians). Originally, I asked Laura Darnell to sing it solo. During the week she started to worry a little bit about the “low” range of the song.
I’ve been in a Bob Dylan mood recently. I was watching the incredible documentary “Don’t Look Back”, which follows Dylan around England on his 1965 tour. There’s a scene where someone asks Dylan if he’s religious. He basically replies, “is there anything to believe in?” Dylan is a lot like Jesus (ever notice that Jesus often answered questions with a question?).
A couple of sections from Psalm 145 have been going through my mind this week, and have certainly influenced our worship this week. “The Lord is faithful to all His promises and loving toward all He has made. The Lord upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down. The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth.” Great verses pertaining to worship! This week, the songs that we’ll be singing together (that reflect this theme) include
